Constantly pushing at the boundaries of contemporary classical and electronic music, the cellist, composer and DJ Oliver Coates has collaborated with the likes of Jonny Greenwood and Massive Attack. He works across genres – from film scores to fashion shows, orchestral concertos to a community choir – and cites Aphex Twin and the early 90s underground rave scene as important influences. Tonight Olly performs some of his new work, preceded by a panel discussion exploring the future of classical music.
In conversation begins from 8.15pm followed by a live performance, played through the renowned Studio 45 Sound System and hosted at the historic Abbeydale Picture House.
Part of Sheffield Chamber Music Festival and Festival of Debate.
