Folk in the Fly Tower – James Green, Slow Galley’s Drift, Eleanor Hooper
Join us for a captivating evening of alternative folk and experimental electronica in the atmospheric Abbeydale Picture House Fly Tower
James Green – musician and artist extraordinaire – will play a set of pieces he has composed for acoustic guitar. James’s longstanding alt-folk project Big Eyes Family was described by The Guardian as ‘strange and compelling’
Slow Galley’s Drift are an avant-rock, post-folk 3-piece. The multi-instrumentalists alternate between e-bow drones, humming Moogs, fiddle, percussion, and acoustic guitar, with choice vocal harmonies, producing a big sound for a small band. They will play a selection of their songs of love and forgetting.
Eleanor Hooper uses her emotionally charged vocals to create ethereal, modern, choral music with poignant lyrics that explore deep personal life experiences. She creates complex layers of vocal harmonies and digitally effected voice to construct unique and hauntingly beautiful avant-pop songs.
