Warp Films has a special relationship with Sheffield – before Warp Films, there was Warp Records, a Sheffield-born music label that made a global impact on electronic music.
Warp Films, like their musical counterparts, have been a true example of creativity and independence and have played an essential part in British cinema.
Teaming up with Peep Show writers Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, director Chris Morris had already earned a reputation as one of the most uncompromising satirists working in British entertainment, and with Four Lions, he took on a typically controversial subject: a group of inept self-styled suicide bombers, hilariously plotting martyrdom from their terrace houses in Yorkshire, in this whip-smart comedy-satire.
Film starts 9pm
Presented as a double-bill alongside Dead Man’s Shoes – link to details.
All profits from ticket sales and bar takings will go towards the Abbeydale Picture House restoration fund.
